Tropical Rainforest Climate Zone
This lesson would be best served as an introduction to the specific climate zones.
Tropical rainforest climate zone. Other common tropical diseases include dengue, chagas disease, schistosomiasis. Therefore there is a great deal of biodiversity within tropical forest regions. A tropical rainforest climate, or equatorial climate, is a type of climate typical of tropical forests and regions along the equator.
The tropical rainforest is a hot, moist biome where it rains all year long. It is known for its dense canopies of vegetation that form three different layers. Malaria, a common disease found in tropical rainforests, can be treated but there’s no vaccine for prevention.
Tropics, also called tropical zone or torrid zone, all the land and water of the earth situated between the tropic of cancer tropic of cancer, parallel of latitude at 23°30' north of the equator; The average temperature is approximately 77 degrees fahrenheit, and it’s almost the same throughout the year. The tropical climate much of the equatorial belt within the tropical climate zone experiences hot and humid weather.
As tropical rainforests are located on or close to the equator, the climate is typically warm and wet. Have you ever heard about africa’s serengeti plain? Monsoon climates are located along coastal areas, which have different air circulation patterns than those seen in a typical tropical rainforest.
However, in several eastern coastal regions, such climates might extend beyond 26° from the equator. Rainfall is sporadic and in some years no measurable precipitation falls at all. Tropical rainforests only cover 6% of the earth's surface, yet they produce 40% of the oxygen and support nearly half of all plant and animal species known on earth.
With a tropical dry climate (continental continents); Tropical regions occur between the tropic of cancer at 23.5 degrees north and the tropic of capricorn at 23.5 degrees south of the equator. The three types of tropical climate are classified as tropical rainforest or equatorial (af), tropical monsoon (am) and tropical wet and dry or savannah (aw).
